literature poetry writing 04

This week, we’ll be doing a couple things:

1. Making a brief excursion into the world of poetry.

Here is the Norton reading link: https://b-ok.cc/book/3409266/1950b1

[ ] Read the introduction to poetry in your Norton (see link). Please read at least the first five pages (476- the top of 481), though I’d recommend the whole introduction (476-501).

[ ] I’ll be posting a brief video on poetry as well.

[ ] Then, looking through the entire table of contents, please choose 5 poems to read on your own. (Poetry is found all the way from 476-749.) I would recommend several, but on the other hand, poetry, like music, ought to be found by love– so spend some time. You won’t regret it. (And on the other hand, if you’d like me to tell you about some of my favorites, watch the video. I’ll probably mention some. 🙂

2. Writing a Literary Critique.

For this paper, you’ll be taking part in the craft of the literary critic. By “criticism” we do not mean, of course, “saying negative things” (necessarily).

For this paper, you may pick any work– fiction, poetry, or drama– in our Norton book on which to write.

When you write a literary critique, what you’re doing is saying “This is what I think this story/poem/play is doing. This is what I think it means. And here is why…” You then proceed to back up your claim with examples from the text. You might also provide an evaluation of the quality of the work in regard to how well it accomplishes its task.

For this paper, you’ll be performing a very short (2-3 page) literary critique. Make sure you’ve read over the “What makes a good literature paper?” source (found under Week 5, Scholarly Links), as well as the rubric.

design with uml 4

Assignment 3: Design with UML

Due Week 7 and worth 120 points

Advanced Business Systems (ABS) is a consulting and staffing company providing specialized staffing and consulting services to clients in a variety of different industries. It has offices in major U.S. metro areas and has ongoing relationships with Fortune 500 companies. Its areas of services range from software development and network engineering to geo-information systems. It has fifty (50) plus regional offices in U.S. and five (5) offices in Canada. It plans to expand to other countries in the future.

When an ABS client company determines that it will need a contractor or temporary professional, it issues a staffing request against the contract it had previously negotiated with ABS. The contract manager in ABS reviews the staff request and ensures that the request is valid with its current contract with its client from the database.

  • If the request is not valid, the contract manager sends the staffing request back to the client and explains the reasons and asks for the need for starting a new contract.
  • If the request is valid, the contract manager will start recruiting requests by putting the request into its staffing database. The staffing request is then sent to ABS placement department.

In the placement department, the placement specialists will check the job requirements and candidates qualifications.

  • If there is a qualified candidate, the specialist will notify the candidate and put a note in the database.
  • If a qualified candidate cannot be found or not immediately available, the specialist notifies contract managers and recruiting department; the recruiting department starts search outside immediately.

The recruiting department normally has thirty (30) days to find an outside candidate and send the qualified candidates to the placement department to review. If an internal qualified candidate is confirmed with his / her availability, the confirmation will be sent to the arrangement department. In the arrangement department, the candidate works with the specialists to further confirm the placement details, such as starting date, location, compensation (e.g., per diem), and travel arrangement. The final confirmation will be sent to the client along with a billing schedule. If the client agrees with the arrangement, he/she acknowledges the arrangement with contract managers in the contract department. The contract manager then puts a memo into its database and closes the request.

Note: You may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Create a package diagram of the problem domain layer using the communication diagrams and the CRUDE matrix through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
  2. Perform and explain the verification and validation walk-through of the package diagram.
  3. Create a set of invariants for attributes and relationships and add them to the CRC cards for each class in the structural model using Object Constraint Language (OCL).
  4. List the classes in the structure model. Choose one (1) class and create a contract for each method in that class. Note: Be sure to use OCL to specify the preconditions and the post conditions.
  5. Create a method specification for each method using both structured English and activity diagram for the algorithm specification through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
  6. Use at least two (2) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different from other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow SWS or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
  • Include charts or diagrams created in Visio or Dia. The completed diagrams / charts must be imported into the Word document before the paper is submitted.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Determine the steps and principles of design modeling with UML.
  • Document and describe the different state of objects throughout the life cycle.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in procuring and designing project requirements.
  • Write clearly and concisely about project requirements and design topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

mgt510 resources and capabilities

This week, our discussion thread is centered on the resource-based view of the firm and clarifying capabilities. Select a Middle Eastern company with which you are familiar and reinforce the approach to resource and capability analysis by applying the principal stages of the analysis from your textbook (chapter 5).

1- Identify the resources and capabilities of the company.

a- Choose the functional analysis with Key Success Factors in the industry and identify what resources and capabilities are needed to meet these success factors. State why you made this selection.

OR

b- Choose the value chain analysis and identify the capabilities and resources for each major value chain activity. State why you made this selection (Figure 5.4).

2- Discuss the firm’s resources and capabilities in terms of its strategic importance and relative strength.

a- Discuss the weaknesses and strengths in resources and capabilities. What are the implications for how the firm should compete?

b- Make recommendations to the firm’s management as to which of the resources you have identified should be invested (or divested) and/or which resources should be acquired.

Embed course material concepts, principles, and theories (require supporting citations) in your initial response along with at least one scholarly, peer-reviewed journal article. Keep in mind that these scholarly references can be found in the Saudi Digital Library by conducting an advanced search specific to scholarly references.

Be 2-3 pages in length. Use Saudi Electronic University academic writing standards and APA style guidelines

2 read chapter 3 amp quot books amp quot

There are a few questions to answer this week. Please answer in detail and respond to 2 classmate’s .

1. When, if ever, is book censorship justified? Use examples to explain and defend your answer. Make sure you read Chapter 3 “Books” especially pages 79-82 “Controversies” before answering.

2. What are some of the effects of e-books on the general population?

3. What type of reader are you? What effect has your reading style had on your education and your life?

speech chap6 db nonverbal observation

As seen in the video above, body language tells us much about others. While it can sometimes be difficult to read, the best way to learn is to try! In this assignment, you’ll have the opportunity to be like an FBI agent and do some nonverbal observing yourself!

For this discussion board post, you will observe two adults in a conversation from a distance. You should NOT know these individuals personally and they should not be children or an adult with a child. Make sure you are in a public place and the people you are watching do not know you are observing them (obviously—try not to be creepy :). Watch the two individuals as they converse or interact for about five to ten minutes and make note of their nonverbal communication.Write a full analysis based on the following prompts:Describe the Environment in which this communication event takes place.

Describe their appearances (physical attributes, clothing, accessories).

Define the space or distance from one another and label it based on Hall’s definition of the four distances.

Comment on at least one kinesic: posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye movements.

Also comment on their haptic communication (or lack of it). If you can hear them because they get very loud or laugh, note their Voice (paralanguage) as well, but not what they are saying. More information on each of these elements is found in your book on pages 166-175 under the section “Types of Nonverbal Communication.”

From your observations write a paragraph about the nonverbal communication and the nature of the relationship that you observe using the questions below for guidance. Explain your observations FULLY and use at LEAST two terms from pages 166-175 (more is better!). Underline, highlight, bold, italicize or CAPITALIZE any and all terminology so that it is visually apparent which terms you used.

Then, think back to Perception Checking from Chapter 2 (pages 53-54). Attempt to interpret what the content of the interaction was about based on your observation. Then pretend you have the opportunity to check your perceptions with one of the individuals. Write a statement as if you were speaking to one of the individuals you observed that describes the behavior, shares at least two possible interpretations, and asks for clarification about how to interpret the behavior (see the examples for perception checking on page 54 for guidance). You can read through your classmates’ observations as well and comment on them if you would like but your comments will not be graded. See the Example for help.

Warning: You MUST complete the perception-checking step in order to earn credit for this

Rubric:
-10-20 if paragraph does not contain at least two terms from “Types of Nonverbal Communication”
– 5 if the choice, per term, is used incorrectly
– 2 points per term if that choice is not clearly indicated by an underline , highlight, bold, italics or CAPITALIZATION
– 5 per prompt if not answered
– 25 if perception checking statement not written
– 5-20 if perception check is missing an element (description, two interpretations, clarification)
– 5-20 if college level grammar, spelling and capitalization are not utilized.

Example

WARNING: This is an example. Use it only as a sample of a response. Your own response must be original. If your response is too similar, you will be penalized for plagiarism and receive a “0” for this assignment – no exceptions.

On a very nice day, I decided to go and have lunch, around the noon time, at Panera Bread. After receiving my food, I chose to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather we were having. The individual tables were covered so it was shady and cool, but a bit loud outside since traffic was nearby.

I chose to observe a man and a woman eating their lunch. The man was nicely dressed in a business suit and tie and the woman was wearing a designer pink dress with pink and brown high heels. The woman was wearing pink flashy jewelry to match her pink dress. She was wearing a lot of makeup and she also had some kind of tribal tattoo on her ankle, but I couldn’t see exactly what it was from where I was sitting. I could tell by the clothes and jewelry they were wearing that they were well off and cared about how they portrayed themselves in public. The man and woman were both wearing wedding rings, so I presumed they were married and probably to each other.

When both of the individuals sat down to eat, they actually sat next to each other in the chairs, not across the table from one another. They were often leaning in together as well, close enough to kiss (which they did a few times). This distance would be considered Hall’s definition of INTIMATE SPACE, again confirming that they are probably married to each other.

If I could perception check any part of this conversation, I would want to find out what the face she made meant. If I could talk with her, I would say:

“I noticed at lunch you made a face when your husband said something (behavior). I wasn’t sure if he said something that actually upset you (first interpretation) or if it was just a joke (second interpretation). What was he saying to you (request for clarification)?

how would expansion of political education affect college aged voter turnout

I need an annotated bibliography with 20 articles. The articles can cover college aged/student voting or political education/knowledge. Must be MLA format. I already have two potential articles. Just a summary and how it can be used to help or hurt that question.
