Project: For this first paper you will reflect on how language influences your life.

Because the question of language is a general one, you will need to develop a focus for this reflection. After thinking broadly about your experiences with language, narrow your focus down to an experience in which you were challenged to use language in a new way, or in which you were surprised or moved by a message you either received or produced yourself. While you may reflect generally on language, you must include yourself in the assignment. This assignment is about you and language.

Here are some questions to get you started:

• In what ways do you use language in your personal relationships, in your life as a student or employee, or in other activities?
• How do you use language differently in particular situations, and why?
• How does others’ use of language affect you and the way you interact with the world?
• How does language shape the way you understand yourself and others?
• Do you receive language differently as a reader, listener, or viewer?
• What challenges and successes have you had in trying to get your messages across using language?

Purpose and Audience: The main purpose in this Inquiry is to encourage you to think deeply about your position as a “user” and/or “receiver” of language. You should also inspire your audience to think deeply about the diverse ways we encounter, use, and understand language in our lives.

Requirements

Length: A minimum of two double-spaced pages (575 – 600 words), using Times New Roman 12-point font and standard margins. You should be at least one line onto the third page to ensure that you have two full pages. Do not enlarge the font or shrink the margins in order to make your paper appear longer than it is. If you do so, I will ask for an electronic copy of your paper and reformat it before I grade it. I deduct points for not meeting length requirements.

Title: Your paper must have a title, one that suggests its content and invites the reader to read on. The title should be centered and in plain font, not bolded, underline, italicized or enlarged.

(first student to reply too)Of the four lenses, the reputation lens describes me the most. The lens resonates with my core values, especially the values of integrity and justice. I always present myself as a person of high integrity. One of my principles is to always do the right thing even when no one is watching or even when I do not have a risk of being caught. In the workplace, for example, my principle is to always carry out my duties to the best of my abilities, not because of the amount of pay that I expect from the company, but because I believe in doing the right thing.

When I asked my sister whether she thinks the lens describes me, she confirmed that I indeed, reputation lens corresponds to my values. She specifically stated that I have always set a good example for my siblings. She also stated that I am compassionate and responsible which also corresponds to the reputation lens.

I believe the reputation lens is my primary lens at work, home and in social settings. First, I am very consistent in my behaviors. It is not easy for a person to convince me to act contrary to my values. I also seek wisdom, especially from my elders. Above all, I always act with integrity and civility. As a student, for example, I make sure that I complete all my assignments as expected without shortcuts. Also, I promote justice in my circle of friends to ensure that everyone gets their fair share. Thus, I believe that my behaviors resonate with the reputation lens.

(second student)It’s very inspiring how you take the time to think of your decisions you make, why you make them, and put it in a simple way for you understand, to reflect your thoughts on others. I like how you discussed your justification, put into two categories, so then it’s easier to reason out why you took the steps you took. Such as, yes the win-win solutions are what we are shooting for, but it’s good to realize in some situations another choice has to be made but not only did you make it by why you made it. It’s really great you have mastered the skill to do this with issues because I find in some work situations, I need work on this lens skill my self, of throughly explaining on why I took certain actions that sound professional and accurate.

Students will create an audit plan for auditing City University information management. 4 pages not including references and title page. APA format.

The audit plan should cover the extent of information management systems and practices that the students are aware of. The students will presume they are external auditors tasked to audit the university information management with no prior access. Naturally as with any audit, this will require assumptions which will be confirmed or debunked upon arrival and the audit plan adjusted as required.

Part of the planning must identify the regulations, standards, policies, procedures and other basis for conducting the audit.

Students can use the CityU website, catalog and other resources to understand the organization and types of information which the organization uses.

Included with the audit plan should be an assessment of qualifications of the students for conducting the audit, and a description of management concerns that may affect the audit quality and results.

Option #1: Star Schema – JigSaw database

Utilize the JigSaw SQL file in the Module 6 folder to create a Star Schema diagram. Remember, to create a Star Schema from a normalized data model, you will need to denormalize the data model into fact and dimension tables.

The diagram should contain all of the facts and dimension tables necessary to integrate the JigSaw operational database into a data warehouse. Write a brief paper describing the challenges you experienced in completing this assignment.
