assignment 5 57

Evaluation of Technical Quality

In Unit 2, you selected one standardized test that has relevancy to your academic and professional goals to be the focus of your course project. Your Unit 2 assignment focused on the first four elements of the Code for selecting a test. For this assignment, you will complete a deeper analysis of the technical quality of your selected test by focusing on the fifth element of the Code, which states that the test user will “evaluate evidence of the technical quality of the test provided by the test developer and any independent reviews.” To complete this assignment, you will draw upon the knowledge you gained in Units 3 and 4 about psychometrics in general and reliability and validity in particular.

For this assignment, use the test you selected for your assignment in Unit 2. Locate and summarize a minimum of four articles related to the technical qualities of the selected test. You are encouraged to use the PSY7610 Library Research Guide, linked in the resources, to assist your search.

For each article:

  • List the APA reference for each journal article (a minimum of four).
  • Identify if the article addresses reliability or validity.
  • Discuss if the article addresses sources of error variance, reliability estimates, evidence of validity, or bias and fairness.
  • Identify the specific type of reliability or validity (for example, test-retest reliability, predictive validity, et cetera).
  • Identify the overall results of the research, including any psychometric or statistical outcome.

Guidelines for Selecting the Literature

Use the most current sources you can find. Do not use sources older than 8 years. (You may cite older sources if they are classics, if you want to show the chronology of something, or if you have another good reason. If you choose to use older sources, you will need to explain why.) Use current, peer-reviewed journal articles. Do not use sources without an author or a publication date. Do not use quotes; use only your own words. Please see the Academic Integrity and Plagiarism link in the resources for concerns with high content matching in papers. Evaluate whether the results support the use of your test as appropriate for your field and populations to be served.

Note: The articles you need to complete this assignment should be available inside the library collection. In future courses, you may use the Capella library’s Inter library Loan service to obtain articles outside of the collection, but you should not have to use the service for this course. In the event that you cannot find articles covering a newer test edition, please refer to the List of Tests by Type document, linked in the resources. Note which tests have been designated as acceptable for searching prior test editions.

Additional Requirements

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • References: A minimum of four journal articles (textbooks, web pages, literature reviews, and the MMY book reviews do not count for these references).
  • Length of paper: Evaluation must be at least five pages in length for content (not including title page, abstract, or references).

final project slideshow or powerpoint

Our last week of class will turn the spotlight on you! Essentially, YOU become the teachers. Based on the research you have done on your chosen topics, you are to present your findings to the class in a well-crafted original presentation. Your presentation should cover the components listed in the rubric below.

The presentation

Your presentation should take the form of a narrated slideshow or video. Your presentation should contain about 8-10 minutes of content. At the beginning of Week 8, you will post your presentation in the Week 8 discussion area called “Final Presentations.”

A list of references in APA format must be provided with your presentation. All images and facts require citation. Ideally, you should use at least 10 credible and scholarly sources, which can include the references you summarized in Week 4. All of your sources must be credible, but you can include non-scholarly sources to supplement your presentation. Use the rubric presented below to structure your work. Be sure to touch upon each required component to earn as many points as you can. If you use a slideshow format, work on making the presentation attractive and not too text-heavy. Be sure to include in-text citations for any facts that you present. You should include a transcript to accompany your slides.

greats essay

There are THREE different assignments!

Directions: Create a thesis statement for the GREATs essay prompt. Your thesis statement should respond to the prompt directly, discussing important aspects of your selected cultural artifact’s relationship to freedom in contemporary culture. You will need to carefully the GREATs essay prompt before creating a thesis statement.

An effective thesis statement should establish the following:

  • State an assertion
  • Set limits on the topic
  • Indicate organization

While a thesis statement is often only a single sentence, it is an integral component of your work. A strong thesis statement will help focus your essay. This assignment will be reviewed prior to your submission of the module essay in order to provide feedback that can assist you in continuing to develop supporting details for your thesis essay.

Peer Responses: Review thesis statements for all group members and provide feedback and comments for ALL group members. Look for and discuss connections between your topics and cultural artifacts. You will include this information in the final group presentation due at the end of the module!

Use the question prompts below to begin the discussions:

  1. Connect – What connections exist between group members’ posts?
  2. Extend – What new information is learned from group members’ posts? How does thinking change or shift as a result?
  3. Challenge – What challenges or questions arise from the group members’ posts? What will you need to consider moving toward the development of the module essay?

Directions: For your GREATs module essay, you will analyze a contemporary cultural artifact and its relationship to freedom. For your second mini assignment, create an Annotated Bibliography of at least 5 sources (not including “These Shoes Aren’t Made for Walking”) related to your essay.

Criteria: To fully annotate five sources, your assignment should be 10-15 paragraphs long and include five MLA formatted citations.

  • Each source should be cited according to MLA Works Cited page formatting guidelines
  • Each source should include two to three paragraphs of annotation including summary, assessment and reflection.
  • Include a minimum of five sources about your cultural artifact.
  • One of the five sources must be a non-text object (image, video, audio, etc.)
  • You may cite Wobovnik’s article as an additional source.

GREATS Cultural Artifact Analysis

Readings:

  • Claudia Wobovnik’s “These Shoes Aren’t Made for Walking”
  • 5 source minimum (see Annotated Bibliography)
  • 1 of the 5 sources must be a non-text object

Overview: In Claudia Wobovnik’s text and video “These Shoes Aren’t made for Walking”, she presents an analysis of the high-heeled shoe as a cultural artifact. Wobovnik explains that people often have different associations with the same cultural artifact, because the “cultural agents bring the object into meaning by using it” (85). In other words, an object only has meaning because it is used by people, and people create meaning according to cultural and social practices.

Prompt: Using Wobovnik’s cultural artifact analysis as a model, identify a cultural artifact and analyze its connection with freedom. Consider the questions below:

  1. How is the artifact experienced or interpreted?
  1. What is the artifact’s role in society?
    • How does the artifact contribute to and actively shape cultural ideals and expectations?
    • How does the artifact support or revise conventional ideas, practices, or expectations?
    • How does the artifact create meaning?
  2. How does this artifact promote specific values of freedom, or oppression?
    • Which cultural groups are affected by the artifact?
    • How does the artifact participate in influencing the formation of personal or group identity?
    • How is this artifact representative of wider social assumptions that are promoted through media, stereotypes, and single stories?

After selecting a cultural artifact to research and completing the tasks throughout the module, compose an essay that includes the following:

  • A thesis that argues the cultural artifact’s connection to freedom
  • Analyze the artifact:
    • Provide a brief history
    • Explain its role in contemporary society
    • Explain it’s connection to freedom through multiple examples from credible sources
    • Analyze a non-text object related to your cultural artifact
  • Apply Wobovnik’s ideas about the creation of meaning by social agents to your analysis:
    • What are the different ways that the cultural artifact is interpreted based on cultural factors and differences?
    • Which groups benefit from the cultural artifact? Which groups are harmed by it?
    • Who decides the meaning and interpretation of the cultural artifact? How is it promoted, reproduced, and shared?

You may select a cultural artifact from any of the following fields:

  • Literature— an author, book, poem, story
  • Music— musician, album, song, genre (i.e. hip hop or country)
  • Cinema or Television— an actor, director; movie or series
  • Media— social media, advertisement, news channel, magazine or newspaper, journalist
  • Fashion— Fashion trend, article of clothing, fashion designer, models
  • Visual Art – photographs, paintings, multi-media works, non-conventional works of art and /or genres (tattoos, tagging, etc.)
  • Technology—Video games, smart phones, apps, portable electronic devices

Audience: Your audience is your instructor and other members of the class, representative of an adult, educated, academic audience.

Length: 4-6 pages (1000-1500 words), not including the non-text object and Works Cited page

Requirements:

  • Organize the essay so that each body paragraph is providing support for your thesis (use “Essay Structure” resource and LUMEN modules for guidance)
  • Cite all sources using MLA style in-text citations
  • Include an MLA style Works Cited page at the end of the essay (not included in 4-6 pages of text)

understanding family structure and style is essential to patient and family care conducting a family interview and needs assessment gathers information to identify strengths as well as potential barriers to health

Understanding family structure and style is essential to patient and family care. Conducting a family interview and needs assessment gathers information to identify strengths, as well as potential barriers to health. This information ultimately helps develop family-centered strategies for support and guidance.

This family health assessment is a two-part assignment. The information you gather in this initial assignment will be utilized for the second assignment in Topic 3.

Develop an interview questionnaire to be used in a family-focused functional assessment. The questionnaire must include three open-ended, family-focused questions to assess functional health patterns for each of the following:

  1. Values/Health Perception
  2. Nutrition
  3. Sleep/Rest
  4. Elimination
  5. Activity/Exercise
  6. Cognitive
  7. Sensory-Perception
  8. Self-Perception
  9. Role Relationship
  10. Sexuality
  11. Coping

Select a family, other than your own, and seek permission from the family to conduct an interview. Utilize the interview questions complied in your interview questionnaire to conduct a family-focused functional assessment. Document the responses as you conduct the interview.

Upon completion of the interview, write a 750-1,000-word paper. Analyze your assessment findings. Submit your questionnaire as an appendix with your assignment.

Include the following in your paper:

  1. Describe the family structure. Include individuals and any relevant attributes defining the family composition, race/ethnicity, social class, spirituality, and environment.
  2. Summarize the overall health behaviors of the family. Describe the current health of the family.
  3. Based on your findings, describe at least two of the functional health pattern strengths noted in the findings. Discuss three areas in which health problems or barriers to health were identified.
  4. Describe how family systems theory can be applied to solicit changes in family members that, in turn, initiate positive changes to the overall family functions over time.

Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

RE: Week 7 Discussion 1

Good morning Professor and Classmates,

From the article I found describing the differences in Push and Pull Strategies in Marketing, one factor is obvious. (1) Push strategies are designed to put an item in your mind, or in front of you, and targeted toward making a short term sale, such as those rows of items at the check out line in a grocer or the young lady who asks smilingly if you want your fries large or a desert with your meal. In the marketing channel, products are pushed from the wholesaler to the retailer to promote and sell their product instead of a competitors to a final user.

Pull marketing strategies are designed to develop brand loyalty by promoting via mass media and advertising sales promotions. (1) The marketing goal is to get the consumer to come explore the brand. The goal is to reach long term repetitive buyers. An example of this is the recent launch of the Disney Plus channel before Thanksgiving of last year. Specific American Broadcasting Company ( ABC) network shows promoted Disney’s new entertainment product and its compatibility with device technology, because Disney is the parent company to ABC.(2) In the marketing channel ABC as a recognizable cable channel acts as an ancillary channel member whose goal is to inform the public that the product is out there, and invite them to subscribe to it long term.

The textbook (3) describes push strategies as the kinder and gentler of the two however. Strategic advertising promotions such as entering trade shows who attract consumers to different types of products are able to use their sales force towards introducing and raising an awareness of a products qualities. Though the goal is the same to create sales, this type of advertising does not approach the consumer with the harshness that direct sales pitches which are expected at places such as the quick service restaurant or the discounted products placed at the check out line of a retailer. From the marketing channel participants perspective, kinder push strategies are conceived in training programs and developing quota specifications.

Download, unzip, and attach the sample database ITCO630_A from the link below. The sample database represents an educational institution with students and different schools. Each student goes to just one school. The students have various roles in different assignments and may work on more than one assignment at a time.

Download the database for this assignment.

The following are the tables and data in the ITCO630_A database:

Using the sample database, write the scripts in a file called ITCO630_P3.SQL to create the following views. Remember to include a USES clause at the top of the script file to use the ITCO630_A database. Also include code that checks if the view already exists. If it does, it should be dropped and recreated.

  1. Create a view named v_worker showing the student number, assignment number, and start date where the role is “worker.”
  2. Create a view called v_no_points with all the columns of the assignment table except the points column.
  3. Create a view called v_count that shows the number of students working on each assignment. The view should have columns for the assignment number and the count.
