Assignment Content

  1. Purpose of Assignment

All products/services go through a lifecycle of NPI (new product introduction), growth, maturity, and decline. These various stages affect the marketing strategy and promotional efforts for a particular product or service. In Week 3, you will incorporate a product strategy that addresses at least 3 areas of the product lifecycle. The primary objective of this assignment is to allow you to demonstrate an understanding of the factors that can affect the launch of a product or service.

    Assignment Steps

Create a minimum 700-word product strategy in Microsoft® Word. Complete the following:

    • Select a product strategy.
    • Address at least three areas of the product lifecycle (NPI, growth, maturity, and decline).
    • Create at least two different types of media methods for the product or service. One method must be print and the other must be non-print, both of which highlight your product or service. In your assignment, include 2-3 sentences about each media method (i.e., one paragraph of what you would do, but not how to do it). For example, (this cannot be used in this assignment), a non-print media method would be a Facebook campaign that provides users with a reward for each review (positive or negative) about the use/appearance/price/etc. of the product or service.
    • Determine how you will measure the marketing activities (i.e., what metrics will be used to determine success or failure).
    • Address three elements of the following Product and Promotion List:
    • Integrated marketing communication
    • Advertising strategy/objectives
    • Push and pull
    • Media strategy
    • Advertising execution
    • Direct marketing
    • Public relations/strategies
    • Positioning

The plan will be a continuation of the global or multi-regional company you chose in Week 1. This will be incorporated into your overall marketing plan for Week 6.

Note: Charts/graphs/tables do not count toward the word count.

Cite a minimum of three peer-reviewed references.

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.

    Submit your assignment.

Please do you case in semi-outline form, using the following headings.

I. Facts – What happened?

II. Issue – What is the question of law? (one simple sentence) All the information you want to put here usually belongs under defense.

III. Holding – What is your decision?
IV. Reasoning – What principles of law did you base your decision on?

Case 1 – Chapter 11

Helen, age 17, wanted to buy a motorcycle. She did not have the money to pay cash but persuaded the dealer to sell a cycle to her on credit. The dealer did so partly because Helen said that she was 22 and showed the dealer an identification card that falsely stated her age as 22. Helen drove the motorcycle away. A few days later, she damaged it and then returned it to the dealer and stated that she voided the contract because she was a minor. The dealer said that she could not do so because (a) she had misrepresented her age and (b) the motorcycle was damaged. Can she void the contract?

Sample Case

I. Facts – What happened?

In this case study, Helen had passed away and had left her niece as the beneficiary to her death. Unfortunately, the intended beneficiary of Helen’s niece had gone unnoticed for a year’s time due to the paperwork being “lost” in Helen’s house. After quite some time, the paperwork was discovered in which it listed Julie (her niece) as the person to receive Helen’s insurance policy money. The issue at hand involves a timeline in which the insurance company claims Julie had to abide by in order to claim the insurance money. Julie argues this due to the fact that she was not aware that she was listed on the insurance policy as well as not agreeing to the terms of the contract.

II. Issue – What is the question of law?

The question of the law is the donee beneficiary, the person listed on the beneficiary information or insurance policy, entitled to the policy/money.

III. Holding – What is your decision?

My decision in this situation would be a tough and indecisive one. I think that I could see both sides of the situation at hand in this kind of story. I agree with the insurance company that there should be a time frame on this kind of policy claim/cashing in of such money. It is unrealistic to think that someone could claim a life insurance policy some ten years later just by the sole reasoning that they just realized they were on the person’s insurance plan. On the flip side, I also think that perhaps Helen’s niece Julie was not aware that she was listed as her aunt’s beneficiary and perhaps she did not know she was entitled to a money sum. I know that I personally list my parents and my sister as my beneficiaries on my life insurance policy and I am not 100% sure that they are all aware of this. I think that the ultimate decision in this circumstance should be that the insurance company has rules/contracts and they need to be followed by the terms that are printed in writing. Therefore if the insurance company plainly has it stated that Julie had one year’s time to claim the insurance policy money, then that is the contract that needs to be followed regardless of the reasoning behind why Julie may or may not have claimed the money.

IV. Reasoning – What principles of law did you base your decision on?

I based my decision in the above case study on the donee beneficiary information listed on page 380 of the text. Unfortunately in this situation it does not sound like Julie may have been fully aware that she was listed as her aunt’s beneficiary on her life insurance plan; but nonetheless, the contract of the insurance company has to be followed to ensure that the insurance company does not have to pay out recipients to policies who decide to try and claim their money some 10 years later for whatever reason. I think that this is a fair decision and this is the reason in which such laws, contracts, and policies exist.

Discuss victimless crimes, and provide an example. Do you think these crimes are truly victimless? Why, or why not?

My classmate wrote this and I have to comment on it:

Victimless crime, also called consensual crime, refers to a crime that doesn’t directly harm the person or property of another. Victimless crimes are typically not included in the common law and are considered crimes mala prohibita. One example of victimless crime is prostitution. The victims of prostitution are mostly the prostitutes themselves. Prostitution is sexual harassment, rape, battering, verbal abuse, domestic violence, a racist practice, a violation of human rights, childhood sexual abuse, a consequence of male domination of women and a means of maintaining male domination of women.

Do you believe that ISIS is using social media to launch a “war of ideas”? If so, how? Is ISIS winning the war on mass and social media? Why, or why not?

In your peer reply, be sure to examine the different thoughts and viewpoints that your fellow peers have expressed about ISIS, mass and social media. Do you agree or disagree with their viewpoints?

This is what my classmate wrote and I have to comment on it :

Yes, I do believe that ISIS is utilizing social media to launch a “war of ideas”. Social media is the most efficient tool thus far in recruiting members for ISIS. According to Michael O’Hanlon, a Brookings Institution senior specializing in defense and foreign policy, “ISIS still draws about 1,000 foreign recruits a month to Iraq and Syria from nearly 100 different countries through social media”.

ISIS has benefited from the use of social media, in particular Twitter. Even though Twitter took a more forceful approach to ISIS’s use of Twitter in 2014, ISIS continues to remain in control over information that flows on the network. They establish accounts with strong privacy setting and have content shared through smaller unofficial accounts through the use of hash tags. ISIS also produces videos as tools of propaganda. They target particular audiences. ISIS has moreover proven its ability to synchronize its social media efforts with its strategic aims.

The two key objectives for ISIS are to threaten the United States and its allies through intimidation and to recruit from outside of the Middle East. How are terrorist organizations like ISIS using the mass media to promote their propaganda? Discuss a real-world strategy and example. Have their strategies been successful? Why, or why not?

Below are 20 terms from your studies in this course. Eight of the terms are identified with an asterisk (*).

1) Define each of the twenty terms in your own words. Do not cut and paste reference material. This is more of an open-book test than an essay, so your responses may be brief, but need to be specific, accurate, and in your own words.

2) For the eight terms that have an asterisk (*), in addition to defining the term, also add if you support what the term represents (why or why not?)

Turn in your completed written document with all responses by the due date listed.

Each term you complete is worth up to 5 points, for a total possible 100 points. Your responses will be judged for accuracy and completeness as assessed by the instructor. This is not a difficult assignment, but your answers (in your own words) need to demonstrate your understanding of the curriculum you studied during this course.
