In a 1-2 page paper please respond to your chosen document. Your paper should include a bibliographical reference and should have 2 parts to it. The first part of your paper should be a candid response to the document. Did you enjoy this document, did you find it overly long, or difficult to understand? Why did you choose this document to respond to? Did something about it stick out as familiar or surprising? Was there something you found interesting or intriguing? The second part of the paper should focus on why the document was created in the way it was. What type of document is it (an article, a speech, a letter, etc)? Who was intended to read it? What did the author want to accomplish or say through the work, and just as importantly- were they successful in their aims? Why or why not? What choices did they make that allowed the work to achieve that aim (or not)? Does your analysis of the document relate to your earlier reaction to the document (is it suitable that you didn’t find a supreme court case to be very exciting, or that a political speech was written in clear accessible language)? Remember to be specific and use examples from the text (with citations) to describe your ideas.

Take home essay exam:
For the purposes of this essay, I’m asking you to put your own voice into conversation with the texts, to engage in a philosophical exchange with our authors about your own view. This is more than just expressing an opinion, I’m asking you to become a philosopher arguing for a position or approach or point of view. You need to argue for your view in relation to the views of the authors you are citing (whether you agree with them or disagree, you are in conversation with them throughout the essay). This requires serious textual engagement, and short, efficient citations. Use simple, author-page parenthetical citations (Ahmed 97).
Write a 1300 word essay (strict limit) on ONE of the following questions. Please note at the top of your essay which question you have chosen. In each case, engage the appropriate texts from Units 2&3. You must engage at least 2 texts in some depth to complete the assignment.
FIRST PARAGRAPH OF YOUR ESSAY: In the first paragraph of your essay:

This will be a conversation essay. The theme revolves around the contradiction between the technology-based technology companies and people’s privacy. The following are the relevant requirements of the article.
I want you to wrestle with the idea of identity in social media. This conversation should illustrate how you understand the materials discussed in this unit and new knowledge that you have developed from thinking about this concept of identity in social media in connection with the sources. The essay should have your main claim and use evidences from the texts to support your claim. In other words, imagine that you are explaining this concept of identity in social media to an alien, how would you do it? Where would you start? Another way to look at an academic paper is you entering a discussion. This means that you have to describe the current thinking on that particular topic and build upon others’ ideas before coming up with your own argument. I selected essays that have conversational qualities, but your topic is a bit different from their topic. Please keep that in mind. In this essay, there should be a part where you discuss the current thinking on identity that it is socially construct, ever-changing, and hybrid. Then you are required to apply that thinking to a social media context.
Remember that you have to use three sources from this list.
1. “The Circle” ( This is a movie starring Emma Watson.)
2. Radiolab, “Post No Evil†(https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/radiolab/post-no-evil–TZrHpK3uQF/)
3. Kanika Sharma ; Sumit Gupta ; Preeti Gupta ; Prince Arora Topic: “User’s Perception on Social Media Privacy Concern”

ps: Essay needs to mention the dangers of illegal use of user privacy by technology companies, and the full-text format and cited at the end of the text need to be consistent with the example. I will add the example attachment here.
