This week you will have a choice between two topics. The initial reply must be a minimum of 300 words. Please choose only one topic below to address for your initial post.

Option 1: Administrator Challenges

Imagine that you are an administrator leading a human services organization that is experiencing several challenges, such as high turnover among staff, poor lines of communication between employees, a lack of diversity amongst your staff, and overall low level of employee satisfaction with the current organizational culture. Describe this fictional organization (e.g., what it aims to do, and the clients you work with, etc.) and evaluate the impact that these issues may have on the delivery of services that are rendered. How would you address the challenge? As you reflect on how you would address the challenge, what are the decision-making approaches that guided your choice of approach?

Option 2: Professional Challenges

Imagine that you are a human services professional working with a client facing a challenge or situation. Choose the challenge or situation that this client might face (e.g., alcoholism, domestic violence, homelessness, poverty, terminal illness, etc.) and summarize the presenting challenge(s) and needs. Considering the challenge or situation faced by your client, explain an approach you would take. Analyze cultural competence elements as identified in the National Organization for Human Services’ Ethical Standards for Human Services Professionals (Links to an external site.) that direct practice professionals should integrate in the successful delivery of this technique (e.g., awareness of one’s own cultural background, recognition of multiculturalism, respecting cultural diversity, etc.). As you reflect on how you would address the challenge, what are the decision-making approaches that guided your choice of approach?

A classic study in Criminal Justice is the Stanford Prison Experiment. This week you will conduct research on this classic study and submit your work as a PowerPoint presentation.

Create a 10 –12 slide PowerPoint presentation incorporating speaker notes to provide an overview of the following:

1. Provide a brief review of the study.
2. What was the purpose of the study (exploratory, descriptive, explanatory, evaluative, or a combination)? Justify your reasoning.
3. Describe the sampling strategy and sampling technique.
4. Describe the research design
5. List four ethical principles or standards and discuss whether researchers were compliant with these principles.
6. Evaluate the validity and reliability of this experiment. Explain your answer.
7. Analyze whether the results can be generalized to another situation or population. Justify your reasoning.

The key to a successful project is to ensure that the presentation:

• Addresses all of the information requested (see bullet points above)
• Is “creative” in that it utilizes template, color, hyperlinks, pictures, and streaming video in support of your major premises
• Completed in PowerPoint (other formats will be scored a zero)
• APA style is utilized on the reference slide
• No large music files are included
• Outside research is evidenced. You will need a minimum of 4 sources

When a patient or the insurance carrier makes a payment on a patient’s account, the data reflecting this payment must be entered into the organization’s accounting system. The Remittance Advice forms that contain this data are not standardized; therefore, they will look different from payer to payer and use the payer’s preferred descriptors. 2. Beneath the yellow sample row in the spreadsheet, record the payments received for each patient contained in the Remittance Advice Information document. Use the following guidelines in capturing the data:

 

• Payments received for individually charged items also need to be posted.
• If needed, calculate the total amount reimbursed based on payment information provided.
• Record the date the payment was received (Payment Date) in the format MM/DD/YY.
• Record the Medical Record Number (MRN) and account/encounter number (Acct#) without leading alpha characters or dashes.
• Format payment amounts as currency, in whole numbers and using the dollar ($) sign (for example, $10 or $1,000).
• Record payment method as one of the following: Cash, Personal Check, Insurance Payment.
• Any payments made by the patient themselves, need to be recorded as a separate line item, the same as if it was separate insurance

The purpose of statistics is to produce study results from a sample and to allow the researcher to infer them to the population where the sample was taken. Inferential statistics are the techniques that allow for this type of generalization to occur. The methods of inferential statistics include estimating population parameters from sample statistics and testing statistical hypotheses. Common testing methods are t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), simple and multiple linear regressions, chi-square test, and simple and multiple logistic regressions. The variable type or level of measurement for the dependent variables and independent variables influence the selection of the testing methods.
