Meaningful use is another way of making sure your organization is compliant in meeting quality and safety recommendations. You collect information through EHRs. That information is then used as data points for different quality measures.

The SAFER guides consist of nine guides organized into three broad areas. These guides enable healthcare organizations to address EHR safety and ability to contribute to overall organizational quality in a variety of areas. Most organizations will want to start with the foundational guides and proceed from there to address areas of greatest interest or concern. The guides identify recommended practices to optimize the safety and safe use of EHR.

In this assignment, you will download and complete a SAFER guide.

This assignment directly supports Section II: Status of Quality Tools and Standards of your final project.

Conduct an evaluation of your organization’s EHR. If you are not currently employed, use a previous organization you have worked for or use organization information found on the Epic Patient Engagement website. In this assignment, you will download and complete one SAFER guide from HealthIT.gov. First, ensure your Adobe Acrobat is up to date. Then, select one guide from the foundational guides, infrastructure guides, or clinical process guides, download your selected guide, complete it, and then submit it.

Write a 3- to 5-page paper (page count does not include title and reference page) that addresses the following:

• Identify a problem, inefficiency, or issue within a specific department/unit.
• Describe a specific, realistic change that could be made to address the issue.
• Summarize how the change would align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values as well as relevant professional standards.
• Identify a change model or strategy to guide your planning for implementing the change. Provide a rationale for your selection.
• Outline the steps that you and/or others would follow to facilitate the change. Align these steps to your selected change model or strategy.
• Explain who would be involved in initiating and managing this change. Describe the skills and characteristics that would be necessary to facilitate the change effort.

Prepare a memo for the task force on the following:

Compare and contrast the four categories of community-based interventions.

Select two typologies to present as options to the task force and explain in detail how these can be applied.

Identify one typology for recommendation, giving reasons in support.

Your final product will be in a MS Word document of approximately 3–4 pages. You should utilize at least 3 scholarly sources beyond the course readings in your research. Each student will be responsible for selecting one of the supplemental texts, THAT IS LISTED ABOVE, and preparing an 8 -12-page review paper that describes, critically analyzes, and evaluates the quality, meaning, and significance of the selected book. It should focus on what the author has tried to do, evaluate how well the author has succeeded, and present evidence to support this evaluation.

The structure of the paper should include the following:

The paper must be an original work. Your source of information should only be taken from the selected book. There is a zero-tolerance policy for Plagiarism. Coping materials from the Internet or other sources without citing the source is a serious offense. If more than five words in a row are found to be copied from the Internet or other sources without citation, the student will receive a grade of “F” for both the paper and the term.
