For this assignment, you prepare to write a This I Believe essay by generating ideas and planning how to organize your essay.

  • Do not worry about spelling or grammar.
  • Do not censor your ideas, just keep writing.
  • If you get stuck, repeat a prompting question or the topic until something comes to you.
  • Freewriting is about quantity rather than quality.
  • We’ll reverse that philosophy when we start writing your essay, but for now focus on generating as many ideas as you can.

Following are three conceptual frameworks for the study of health policy and laws:Framework one consists of three broad topical domains—health care policy and law, bioethics, and public health policy and law.Framework two consists of three historically dominant perspectives—social, political, and economic perspectives.Framework three consists of key stakeholders in the process.In this assignment, you will focus on the government’s health’s immunization laws that were passed to protect children from infectious diseases.Using South University Online Library or the Internet, search articles on the frameworks of study of health policy and law in the areas of immunization of children.On the basis of your research and your understanding, write a 3- to 4-page APA formatted essay in a Microsoft Word document. The course project has major assignments that will be due in Weeks 3 and 5. It will take more than a week’s effort to adequately complete them. Plan time to start the research and other work for those assignments earlier than the week in which they are due.  

With significant operations around the world, Savannah Engineering, Inspection and Insurance Company (SEIIC) is truly a global company. Its most significant international operations are in the European Union (EU) countries and Asia. Growth in China has been particularly rapid over the last five years. Because of the highly technical nature of its business, SEIIC has had a difficult time getting the people with the right skills in the right places and then keeping their skills up to date. The company has worked hard at identifying and hiring local talent, but the efforts have not been entirely successful. To the extent that it can, it has tried to accommodate local needs in its HRM system. However, it has found it difficult to carry out some of its initiatives because of the different ways of working in different areas. It has been difficult for people who transfer from one area to another to deal with the different HRM policies and procedures.

As a part of the overall review of HRM operations, the company is interested in identifying key factors that differentiate its global and domestic operations and in understanding how it can develop a more global approach to HRM.

• Summarize key details about the case to date. What are the most important issues affecting SEIIC’s HRM? Your summary should be no more than one to two paragraphs. (Imagine that you are riding down the elevator with SEIIC’s CEO and she asks you to provide a high-level summary of what you’ve discovered so far. You have thirty seconds from the time she gets on the elevator until the time she gets off. What would you say?)
• With a focus primarily on the EU and Asian areas of operations, assess key factors that SEIIC should pay attention to in revising its approach to international HRM. Consider, for example, the cultural, economic system, and legal and labor relations similarities and differences in these areas of operation when compared to domestic (United States) operations.
• Analyze how these differences between EU, Asian, and domestic areas of operation may affect specific HRM activities including recruiting and staffing, training and development, compensation and benefits, performance management, and labor relations.
• Finally, justify how SEIIC should approach implementing HRM around the globe. Should it try to provide essentially a standardized, global HRM system or a highly specialized HRM system that is tailored to each location or region where it operates? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each approach and which would you recommend?

A policy is typically developed to mold a profession and improve effectiveness and efficiency as with the relationship between healthcare delivery and healthcare policy.  A policy is considered an intervention to alleviate recognized issues and an attempt to prevent any further undesirable circumstances (Leeuw, Clavier, & Breton, 2014).  Changes in health policy such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Quadruple Aim, while they have created improved efficiency and effectiveness in health care delivery, they have also created strain in various aspects throughout the healthcare system – otherwise known as competing needs (Sage, 2014).

            Health care organizations have completely altered their business strategies in order to meet the demands of the ACA and the Quadruple Aim.  No longer are they following the “fee for service” model, but are now conforming to policy to receive reimbursement based on the quality of care provided (Park, Gold, Bazemore, & Liaw, 2018).  This massive change in health care delivery has resulted in an influx of patients and healthcare demands (Havens, Gittell, & Vasey, 2018).  While healthcare organizations are diligently working to conform to new health care policies and to meet the demands of the Quadruple Aim, there is a tremendous amount of stress being displaced onto the workforce.

            Healthcare providers are being overworked in attempts to meet new demands.  While healthcare organizations continue to take on the massive patient loads and continue to strive for efficient and quality care, the stress that is being placed on the providers, specifically bedside nurses, is resulting in workforce burnout.  What this ultimately leads to is a decrease in the quality of care provided (Jacobs, McGovern, Heinmiller, & Drenkard, 2018). 

            The ANA (2015) Code of Ethics, among many standards and guidelines, states that nurses not only should provide sound care to their patients but must also maintain self-care and a healthy work-life balance in order to be productive in their work.  “Fatigue and compassion fatigue affect a nurse’s professional performance and personal life” (ANA, 2015, p.19).  Without a sense of balance in the work environment, it is difficult, if not impossible to meet standards and achieve sufficient quality of care. 

            Policy can address competing needs by tackling issues from multiple angles.  This essentially explains why the Triple Aim transitioned into the Quadruple Aim.  Once healthcare leaders recognized the high demands that healthcare reform was placing on the workforce, the additional leg of the Aim evolved, to include improving the provider experience (Sikka, Morath, Leape, 2015).  Recognizing the need to not only improve conditions for patients but also for the workforce is imperative in meeting healthcare delivery goals.
