The value of utilization management and review has been debated among the leaders in health care since its inception. For this module’s case assignment, you are going to engage in the review of a utilization management plan for a health care organization.

Assignment Expectations

Search the Internet for a hospital or other health care organization’s utilization management plan. Once you have found one, prepare a 4- to 6-page paper. (This does not include the title or reference page) in which you address the following:

• Identify the organization you researched and include the URL for the page of the utilization management plan that you examined.
• Provide an overview of the organizations utilization management plan- specifically, discuss each of the elements of the plan and describe how each of the elements contributes to health care quality.
• Identify two weaknesses of the organizations utilization management plan and describe “why” you consider them to be weaknesses. Postulate ways in which the weaknesses can be overcome.

OSHA requires the employer to post a hard copy of several documents related to citations and penalties in the area where the violation occurred or, if that is not feasible, in an area where affected employees will readily see the notices. Do you believe, in the modern electronic age, the use of a hard copy is the most effective method of displaying the information? Discuss at least one additional method of displaying the information and why you believe it would be a more effective method. Alternately, you may defend the use of a hard copy posted in the work area, and state why you believe that method would be more effective. 

Memory loss is frightening. The purpose of this assignment is to make you think of memory loss realistically. Complete the steps listed below:

• Watch the video, Living Without a Memory (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., which provides an overview of memory and discusses actual cases of memory loss.
• Select a movie that has featured a character with memory loss. Describe the main features of the impairment exhibited by the movie character.

Engage your critical thinking skills. How accurately is memory loss featured in the selected movie? Specifically, does the memory loss in the movie resemble actual cases? Is appropriate terminology used? Is the prognosis realistic?

• Note that statements regarding the accuracy or inaccuracy of the memory loss illustrated in the movie are to be supported by evidence collected by cognitive psychologists and neuroscientists (i.e., experts). Thus, review the literature on memory loss and use at least two peer-reviewed articles that can answer the questions above. Although your opinion is valuable and always welcome, it needs to be supported by scientific evidence.      
• Express your thoughts about how the movie could have more realistically depicted memory loss, its cause(s), time-course, and prognosis.
• Describe the memory loss featured in the selected movie as well as discussing its accuracy Keep in mind that accuracy refers to the description of symptoms, potential cause(s), prognosis and actual time-course.

Your paper must begin with an introduction to the selected topic in which you define all concepts that will be discussed in the paper. You must also include a conclusion expressing your thoughts about how the movie could have more realistically depicted memory loss, its causes, time-course, and prognosis.

The Understanding Memory Loss Paper:

• Must be four to five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style 

Case Study Scenario: You have been hired by XYZ University as a consultant. The University leadership is thinking about requiring students to participate in a service learning project in order to graduate.  As a case study, the leadership of the University has hired you to evaluate an organization to see if a service learning opportunity would benefit future students and the community. Your initial recommendation is due in week 5 and will be based on the research you collect over the next four weeks.  

Week 1 Assignment: You should have chosen your social issue in the week 1 discussion.  If not, be sure to do so before you begin this assignment. Your task is to find a national or international organization that is currently working to effect positive change for the issue you have chosen. 

For example, if you chose an environmental issue, you might decide to evaluate     Greenpeace. Paper Requirements: Complete the following steps.

Step 1: Introduction “ Introduce the social issue you have selected. Explain to your reader why this issue is important and why they should be interested. What are the benefits of service learning in causing positive change for this issue? Provide at least one citation from a peer-reviewed article to support your claims in this section.

Step 2: Community Organization – Introduce the organization you have selected. Briefly describe the organization’s historical background. What is the primary focus of the organization? How does the organization meet the communities needs?  Provide at least one citation from a peer-reviewed article to support your claims in this section.

Step 3: Conclusion Provide a summary of the social issue and how the organization addresses the social issue. Summarize the benefits for students and the community of performing service learning at this organization. Provide at least one citation from a peer-reviewed article to support your claims in this section

  Step 4: References  On a separate reference page, list all the references you have cited in your paper to support your claims.

“COVID 19 and Economics in the News” 

Students who wish to do extra credit assignments should do the following (The focus should be on the US economy). 

1. Identify 5 to 10 articles in the media or press discussing COVID 19 and relating the pandemic and the economy. (Provide at least five links of the articles you have read)

2. Provide a one-page summary of what the articles say regarding COVID 19 and the economy, giving special attention on how the different sectors of the economy have been impacted by the pandemic 

3. Find 5 news sources (material from newspapers, periodicals, and the internet or journal articles) on the great recession of 2007 – 2009 (Financial crisis). (Provide at least five links of the articles you have read)

4. Give a two-paragraph summary of how the financial crisis came about and how the government(s) responded to address it 

5. Compare and contrast the COVID-19 and 2008 crises (Provide at least 3 similarities and 3 differences) 

6. Provide at least two lessons we can learn from the 2008 crises to address COVID 19 economic crisis 

7. Discuss at least two solutions suggested by experts on how to recover from the current economic recession 

8. Suggest your own two ways that you think the government could use to help recover from the crisis using what we have been learning this quarter

I will be looking at how well you articulate the issues as opposed to the length of the paper. However, try to limit the paper to 5 pages at most.
