Θεωρήστε ότι συνεργάζεστε με το Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Λευκωσίας ως ειδικός σε θέματα Πληροφορικής της Υγείας και είστε υπεύθυνος μιας ερευνητικής ομάδας, έχοντας αναλάβει τη διεκπεραίωση ενός έργου (project), ενός καινοτόμου πληροφοριακού συστήματος. Το όνομα του project μπορείτε να το αποφασίσετε εσείς.

Ο ρόλος του συστήματος είναι η απεικόνιση με χρήση επαυξημένης (augmented) ή ιδανικά μεικτής (mixed) πραγματικότητας (AR/MR) την εσωτερική ανατομία ενός ασθενούς με σκοπό τη διάγνωση, το προεγχειρητικό σχεδιασμό αλλά και τη διεγχειρητική υποβοήθηση μιας επέβασης.

Το σύστημα θα πρέπει να λαμβάνει δεδομένα από τις υπάρχουσες μεθόδους απεικόνισης του νοσοκομείου (πχ CT, MRI, PET) και να τα συνδυάζει με οπτικά δεδομένα (live feed camera) και να ολοκληρώνει σε πραγματικό χρόνο την επεξεργασία εικόνας. Συνεπώς το σύστημα πρέπει να περιλαμβάνει α) μια διεπαφή για τον τελικό χρήστη (τον ιατρό), γ) το σύστημα επεξεργασίας των δεδομένων, γ) μια βάση δεδομένων που θα επικοινωνεί με τα συστήματα που βρίσκονται ήδη σε χρήση στο νοσοκομείο (βάση ασθενών και εισαγωγών, συστήματα εργαστηριακών, PACS)

Do you think we should make an effort to systematically adopt metric units? Why or why not? Support your post with what advantages do you think it would have? What potential problems do we avoid or create?

Personally, I think that it would be beneficial for the US to adopt the use of the Metric System, if only to be on the same page as (most) of the rest of the world. As time goes on, the world is only going to become more connected, and the refusal to use the same system as everyone else almost creates its own kind of “language barrier”. As new discoveries are made in collaboration with people from all over the world, a truly universal metric system would make communicating these new ideas significantly easier. I do understand that the time and money it would take to make a change like this possible is substantial, to put it lightly, and I know I would personally struggle to get used to the new units if this change happened in my lifetime. But, ultimately, I think people would get used to a “new normal”. I don’t know if it’s the most practical idea financially, like I said, but I definitely think the idea of adopting the Metric System has its merits.

I think we (The United States) should make an effort to systematically adopt metric units just to try it out. But since The United States is one of two countries that still uses the British unit system, and the fact that we have all grown up with the British system would make it semi-difficult to adapt to metric units. Even though it would be semi-difficult to adapt to metric units, I think should switch over to it because 1) it would be easier on anyone who is visiting or moving into the United States so that they don’t have to memorize a completely different system of units. And 2) The rest of the world is using the metric system so if we were to adopt it, I feel like it would be easier to do scientific formulas, equations and experiments rather than have to go back and forth through both British units and metric units. I think the only problem that we would have if we adopted the metric system (and the reason we haven’t adopted it yet) is because we are so used to the British system that if we were to switch over, we would have great difficulty adapting to the metric system and all the common people would have mental breakdowns. But other than that, I think we would be fine.

• Review Chapter 13 in the McKenzie et al. text. Pay particular attention to how to create a budget and allocate funds.
• Given the $200,000 you received for your public health program, create a one-year budget.
• Refer to Figure 10.2 on p. 283 of the McKenzie et al. text to view a sample budget sheet.
• Think about potential in-kind support/assets that may influence your budget.
• Review Chapter 12 in the McKenzie et al. text, and see the sample timeline and Gantt charts on pages 325–326. In addition, you may wish to use the Internet to research how to create a Gantt or PERT chart. Microsoft Excel also has some resources available that you can search. Consider what would be an adequate yet basic timeline to execute the program plan you have developed. Think about the tasks and activities that should be included in a basic timeline for your program plan.
  

The Assignment : Final Course Project Submission (8 – 12 pages total, not including cover page or references)

• Begin with an Executive Summary of your whole project and a Conclusion statement (3 – 4 paragraphs)
• Collate the components from Weeks 2, 3 and 4 with corrections to items noted by the Instructor.
• In addition, add a final 2- to 3- page section on budget and timeline that includes responses to the following prompts:
  • Using the sample budget sheet on page 283 of the text, create a budget allocating $200,000 for your public health program. Include at least one in-kind support/asset in your budget.
  • Provide a rationale for your allocation of funds.
  • Develop a basic timeline using a Gantt or PERT chart. Note: Microsoft Excel provides templates that you can use.
  • Provide a rationale for the basic timeline for your program plan.

Your written Assignments must follow APA guidelines. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure your in-text citations and reference list are correct.

Using the Theory: Theory of Planned Behavior

and Model: The Community Tool Box (CTB) (University of Kansas Work Group, 1995, 2009

Use the theory and model to investigate. Find 10 -Peer Reviewed Professional Health Journal articles total (5 for the theory and 5 for the model).   Download the template to use to critique each article.  You will critique 5 theory articles and 5 models (that you are assigned) using the template.  Make a reference list and place in the same document at the end of all the articles in APA format.  Upload one journal article (full article; not just an abstract). 

These must be peer reviewed journal articles. No newsletters, editorials, or informational websites accepted. Go online to the library and search for health, psychology, nursing, kinesiology, or medical journals with programs. It must use theory along with the program. These must be different articles than those used in your written program proposal.
Grading:
6 criteria for evaluation with 2 sentences each= 10 pts each (6 x 10 = 60 total points)
Upload journal article= 20 points
Upload references (10 journal articles) = 20 pts

Upload your evaluation for each of the 10 articles (5 for the theory and 5 for the model) as one document and copy and paste ONE full journal TEXT article you reviewed using the template (not just the abstract).
It must be a valid peer reviewed health journal, only. Go online to the library and look for journal articles.The journal article must be no more than 5 years old.

These are not ABSTRACTS, newsletters or reports, even if they are from valid resources. They should be articles using research methodology (most are 10-20 pages long and list each part of the research). Include a list of references (10 journal listings in APA format) on the same topic, but just upload and review one full article.
