 Understand Access Control Protocols: The two basic forms of medium access control protocols are CSMA/CD, which is found on star-wired bus local area networks, and CSMA/CA, which is found on wireless local area networks. Discuss the differences and similarities of these two protocols. Why would two be needed? Discuss why CSMA/CD would not be a good choice for a wireless network.

1. Price vs. Performance: Your Company is opening a new office and you have been selected to be the IT person. Money is tight and everything must be newly provisioned. You decide to utilize the six value chain activities to meet the needs of the organization. Your first step is to research the differences in all components, performance, and costs between 100-Mbps. LAN and 1000-Mbps LAN configurations.
   1.  Prepare a chart showing the performance and price difference.
   2. Consider that you will be deploying in an office with 100 people, including a demanding General Manager. There is a “good amount” of file sharing within the office (which is what your boss said when you asked him that question).
   3. Given the cost differences, which system would you recommend? Also, consider that everyone wants fast Internet (no external application serving will be taking place from the office), but there will be email.
   4. Will your choice affect the Internet speed of the users?
   5. How would you deliver value and support the needs of the organization?
2. Understand the network design process: You create a report for the organization and discuss the differences and similarities between a physical network design and a virtual design. Using the service value chain activities, you assess the overall importance of design when it comes to building network infrastructure.
3. Become an expert on switches: In your report: you include the importance of switches as a very important component in any network. You provide a technical description of the internal operation of a basic switch. You include how and why is it different than a hub? You include the description of some important configuration options that may be commonly found with switches.

 Post a summarized analysis of your overall findings and hyperlinks to at least three glossaries from last week’s annotated bibliography. There is no limit to the number of hyperlinks you may provide as long as you provide a logical reflection about each. You should present the hyperlinks in full APA formatting.

Minutes from the Cherry Street Consulting Group meeting June 30, 2017 at 9:30 a.m, in the Conference Room at 132 Cherry Street.

Members present: Susan Aldredge (President), Martin Grant, Megan Cartwright, Terry Bantam, Ryan Kowalski

Members absent: Mandy Vargas

Old business: The minutes from the previous meeting a week ago were approved.

Reports: 1. Ryan Kowalski insisted on going first as usual and brought up the issue of bringing in new clients. He reported that the existing client base is stable but that the group could accommodate an additional 30% increase based on resources. These resources include manpower for actual consulting and administrative tasks like filing and account management. He looked at everyone at the table and then said how he was open to suggestions. Megan Cartwright looked at Ryan, raised her hand, and when called on, she suggested identifying local businesses who may benefit from services, then approaching them with a document listing services offered.

2. Terry Bantam followed up on his assignment from two weeks ago regarding marketing for the group. He has a contact who may be able to draft some print ads and informative brochures, along with an estimate for creating such documents. Motion was made to ask Terry’s friend for samples. Motion was seconded and passed.

New business: 1. Susan Aldredge inquired about the status of acquiring new computers. Martin Grant asked if we were getting laptops or desktop computers. Terry said laptops, if that was OK. Susan said it was OK but wanted to know what kind (what brand). Martin asked how many computers. Terry said the budget would allow for three and he felt PCs would be better than Macs. Terry asked if anyone had preferences of a brand. No one specified. Terry said he would buy Dell laptops unless someone objected. No one objected.

2. Martin Grant asked about the location of the annual retreat, making a joke about last year’s location and how he is allergic to bees. Everyone laughed except Susan. Mandy Vargas was assigned the task of securing a location but since she will now be absent for three months on maternity leave (it’s a girl!), the task of finding a location was reassigned by Susan Aldredge to Terry Bantam.

Meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.

Answers: 1. I became interested in the field of education when i was in community college, i felt that i could change the mind of students. When i graduated high school i wasn’t the smartest. I wasn’t the top of my class. I didn’t go straight to a community college, but with perseverance and dedication i was able to get 4 degrees by the age of 25 and i want to motiate the youth. That its never to late to change your path in education. 
Answer 2: I have learned about about this field throughout years of college. Also working in the education field for 3 years, teaching different subjects, and helping different teachers through the years. 
Answer 3.  Through my years in college I had the privilege to work for a big box retail store called Frys electronics. I was the customer service supervisor for 7 years from the age of 18 to the age of 25.  Working at Frys thought me leadership skills from such a young age. I was able to learn new skills, such as communication skills, leadership skills, meeting deadlines, and being able to teach and train associates to become the best versions. Through my masters program i was a paraeducator and supervisor. I worked two full time jobs while attending graduate school full time. I learned time management skills and discipline. I have grown in so many way. I leanred how to become a professional at such a young age. I leanred how to interact with a diverse set of customers and associates. I learned how to lead and make sure my team was always performing at its best. 
Answer 4: My careers goals are to one day put my Master of public administros degree and my EdD to work together.  I want to give back to title one schools across Texas i want to train and help teachers. I want to be a spokesman for the youth in high school. I want to become a professor and teach soon to be teachers. Maybe even become a superintendent  
Answer 5. My low grades in my community college demostrate a student who was workng a full time job and going to school full time to help family economics needs meet and rushing into graduating school.
