Assignement #1 Final

Environmental Scan Group Assignment Due 12/20/18 (80 points)

Your group has received a $10,000 grant to develop a strategy to address one of AHIMA’s 2018-2022 Strategic Objectives at your organization.  The strategy you develop must be implemented within the next fiscal year.  Choose one of the objectives below:

1. Prepare HIM Professionals for the Future

2. Lead in Informatics

3. Lead in Data Analytics

4. Champion Information Governance

Develop an executive-level PowerPoint presentation for the administrators at your organization that describes the strategy you are proposing to address your chosen objective.  Your presentation should address the following:

A. Background & Rationale: Provide background information on the objective and a rationale for your proposed strategy.  Include at least 5 peer-reviewed sources to support your position. 

B. People: Who is accountable for the implementation of the strategy?  Who are the key stakeholders?  Who is the right people with the right skills that are needed to support the strategy?

C. Resources: What are the resources needed for the proposed strategy?  Resources may include expenses, time, staff, etc.

D. Systems:  What systems are impacted by the strategy?  What needs to happen to prepare these systems for implementation of the strategy?  This could be management, technology, communication, etc.  

E. Outcomes: Identify 3 outcomes that will be used to measure the success of the strategy and the process that will be used to measure them.

F. Culture: How will the strategy impact the culture of your organization?  What needs to be done to create an environment where the strategy can be successful?

You will need to develop two deliverables for this assignment: a PowerPoint presentation (including notes for each slide, and don’t forget to cite your sources in APA style!) and an infographic. 

An infographic is a visual way to present information quickly.  (See the AHIMA Strategy infographic posted in the course material for an example.)  Your infographic will be posted on the Discussion Board, so you can share your strategies with your peers.  It should visually represent the objective you are addressing and the strategy you are proposing.  The infographic is not expected to include the level of detail included in your presentation, rather, it should depict the objective and the rationale for your proposed strategy.

Although this is a group assignment, each one of you should upload the PowerPoint and infographic via the Assignment function in Blackboard in order to receive credit for your work.

You have two weeks to complete the presentation and infographic as a group.  Identify one person from your learning circle to post the infographic with a brief description of the objective and proposed strategy to the Discussion Board by December 16th.  During the final week of class, engage in discussion with your classmates on the Discussion Board; review at least 2 other groups’ infographics and respond to their post in a substantial way, demonstrating analytic thinking skills. 

Unit 11 Discussion Due 12/16/18

Identify one person from your learning circle to post the infographic with a brief description of the objective and proposed strategy to the Discussion Board by December 16th.  During the final week of class, engage with discussion with your classmates on the Discussion Board; review at least 2 other groups’ infographics and respond to their post in a substantial way (due December 20th), demonstrating analytic thinking skills.
