1. Sir Robert Peel implemented his Nine Principles to give guidance to the newly formed New Westminster Police Service. How many of these nine principles are still in use today in law enforcement. List the principles still in use today. If they have changed, what would they be known as today?

2.The police use of physical force is a topic that will always bring public comment, especially when someone is injured or dies. Using the Internet, research recent events of police use of physical force (in your community if possible) and the response of the public and the police. Do you feel the response was justified by the public? Was the police response justified? Why or why not?

3.You are a new police applicant, with the goal of becoming a fulltime police officer. You have been selected to interview for your local police department, and one of the questions asked of you is to discuss one of Peel’s Principles. Choose one of the Nine Principles and examine the implications for law enforcement today.
