An employee is hired by Dream Massage to be a massage therapist. She is hired as an independent contractor and, therefore, receives no tax withholding or employment benefits. Dream Massage requires the employee to work a set schedule, provides her clients and all her massage products, and exercises complete control over how she does her work. In addition, when the employee shows up to work the first day, she is informed by her employer she cannot wear her hijab as it violates the company’s dress policy. Create a 700- to 1,050-word report in which you examine the employment issues presented in the scenario, including the following: 

• Analyze whether the employee qualifies as an employee or independent contractor.
• Discuss whether Dream Massage has potentially violated any employment discrimination laws.
• Analyze the ethical considerations behind maintaining a rigid company dress policy

Option #1: Effective Meeting Planning

Plan a meeting: Decide who to invite and plan the meeting objectives and desired outcome of the meeting. If you are planning a virtual meeting, address the pros and cons of holding the meeting virtually.

Scenario:
The marketing communications department has outgrown their space in the corporate office. You’ve been asked to put together a team to design optimal work facilities for the department’s newly leased space in a neighboring building. You have four months to put your plan together before the lease begins. You may choose four other people from the company to be on your team. For this assignment, create the names of the people you choose. Assume that you know each person and can explain why you chose them. You can base your descriptions on real people that you know if you wish.

Part 1: Write a short paragraph briefly describing why you chose the four members of your team. Did you choose based on MBTI, past work history, emotional intelligence, office politics, ability to work on a team, or some other reason? There are no wrong answers. The objective of the assignment is to be aware of why you chose the group for your team and to be able to articulate your reasons for choosing them.

Part 2: Write a 1-to-2-page agenda for the first meeting launching the new team. Include the date, time, and place of the meeting. Include a brief description of the members’ roles and responsibilities. Clarify the intended outcome of the meeting. Project a positive ethos in the meeting invitation. Use the guidelines below to help create your agenda.

After completing the reading this week, please review table 1.2 in the text and review the distinction between leadership and management.  Then think about this in regard to how senior leaders versus senior managers lead change in an organization (especially when it comes to technical change in an organization).

This week please reflect on these concepts and answer the following questions:

1. When implementing change in an organization, there are always culture issues that are faced, such as not accepting change, determine how differently this would be handled thinking about the management versus leadership constructs?
2. When dealing with performing work, how is this implemented differently within the management versus leadership constructs?

 Unit VII Course Project Risk Assessment Project In this assignment, you will conduct a complete risk assessment (RA) for a task of your choosing. It will provide you an opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the risk assessment process as discussed up to this point in the course. 1. Select a work task you are familiar with for which the risks can be assessed. The task must be representative of an industrial work process, not a task you would do at home or around the house. The task must have at least five steps and five distinct hazards to address. Each step does not have to have a hazard associated with it; some steps could have more than one hazard. Just be certain you are evaluating at least five hazards in all. The level of detail in the task steps is up to you. (Note: A tire-changing operation is not a suitable task choice because this task was used in the Unit VI assignment). 2. Click here to access the form to document your risk assessment, staring with a description of the process or task. In the description, include the reasons why you selected the task. List the task steps in order, and identify the hazards at each step. Using the Risk Matrix on page 283 of the textbook (there is a color version in the Unit VII Study Guide), estimate the likelihood, severity, and risk rating for each hazard. 3. Propose one or more risk-reduction tactics for each identified hazard. Reevaluate the likelihood, severity, and risk rating for each hazard after control measures are implemented. 4. In the Discussion section of the form, discuss the reasoning you used to assign the likelihood and severity of each hazard before and after controls were implemented. Provide your conclusion by summarizing which risks were reduced to acceptable levels and which ones require additional controls. Comment on the next steps that the organization needs to take regarding this task. The discussion must be at least 300 words in length. 5.
