You must write a minimum of three paragraphs, and a maximum of six paragraphs (double-spaced) to support your argument.

Essay Questions: In class, we watched a video about the Carlisle School, the Indian School in Philadelphia. What were Indian Schools and why do you think the U.S. government created them? What impact do you think a school of this kind had on cultural identity? Think about how you would feel to have materials removed from you like in the video? Describe several things that would affect the loss of your cultural identity. Do not answer using bulleted points. Answer all the questions presented.

Rubric (Total of 15 Points) (This is how your essay for Part II will be graded).

Worth 5 Points: In your essay, you must answer the following questions. What were Indian Schools and why do you think the U.S. government supported them? What impact do you think a school of this kind had on cultural identity? How would you have felt to have materials removed from you like in the video (name those objects and/or items).

Worth 5 Points: In your essay, you must answer in complete sentences. Complete sentences always contain a verb, express a complete idea and make sense standing alone. Complete sentences are correctly punctuated. Complete sentences always begin with a capital letter and end in either a full stop, exclamation or question mark. No bulleted answers. You should have an introductory paragraph with a thesis and supporting paragraphs, and a closing paragraph.

Worth 5 Points: Reflection–in your essay, you must include how the experience of being in an Indian School would have affected your life. Describe several things that if removed from you would affect your cultural identity.
