Discuss each of the following three hypothetical news situations:

  1. A top military official provides you with classified information. While scandalous, the information is complex and, if not presented clearly, could cause panic. Do you report on it? Why or why not?
  2. You have graphic images of the devastation caused by a war in which your country is participating. Do you use those images? Why or why not?
  3. You hear rumors that a presidential candidate has had multiple marital indiscretions; however, you have no hard evidence. Do you report the rumors? Why or why not?
