discussion board question 147

DO NOT ACCESS ANY OUTSIDE SOURCES OTHER THAN THE SHORT STORY ITSELF AND THIS WEEK’S LECTURE MATERIAL

Discussion Reading and Questions: Read this intriguing short story titled “All Summer in a Day” by one of the paragons of the science-fiction genre, Ray Bradbury. Then, answer the Discussion questions that follow (from the story and lecture material, and your brain only, please):

1. Think of the most breathtaking place you’ve ever been to. Using as many of your senses as you can, describe the place to us in 10 to 15 sentences so that we can feel like we are actually there. Or, if you wish, you can describe the most horrible place you’ve ever been to. Don’t forget to portray the mood or “tone” of the location.

2. Describe the setting in “All Summer in a Day.”

3. What is the mood of the piece? Does it change at all?

4. Which senses are being described? Explain how they’re described.
