Assignment Two – Team Textbook Chapter Presentation
Assignment Presentations, debates and discussions are a very important element of this class. This is the way that you expand and share your knowledge with others and share valuable information, show and develop your leadership capabilities, your skills in communication, and critical thinking.
ï‚· For this assignment, you will work with a small team to develop and deliver a chapter from your text. Your team is asked to create a 60 minute presentation that explains, supports and applies one chapter to a business audience. This presentation is an opportunity for you to delve deeper into one of the topics covered and explain it to a wider audience in a manner that they can understand. The purpose is for you to demonstrate an integrative, comprehensive understanding of the topics covered in the course
Presentations will be grade based on:
 Approach and articulation to the chapter information – a critical analysis and not just a summary report
ï‚· Significant content and up to date information
ï‚· Creativity and professionalism
ï‚· The teams applies the learning through an activity that engages all class members and directly relates to the concepts.
ï‚· Understanding leadership situations and your presentation of solutions or recommendations
ï‚· The presentation resources that are created (ex power point)
ï‚· Citations: You will cite a minimum of eight published scholarly sources (a published scholarly source is a book or peer-reviewed journal article). NB: web-based sources must be peer- reviewed pdf files; only half of the sources can be web-based.
ï‚· Quotations/References: All sources will be cited using APA format Your ability to engage the audience in discussion and application of the topic.
ï‚· Each of the members of the group must present a portion of the presentation and/or contribute to discussion/application exercise. You may include some of the following questions to guide your analysis:
ï‚· What is the purpose of the topic? What do you want us to learn, understand and remember?
ï‚· How do the authors frame the topic?
ï‚· What are some of the general challenges to a leader or an organization associated with this aspect of leadership?
ï‚· What are some solutions to overcome some of the practical issues in this area of leadership?
ï‚· Apply at least three different cultural lenses to this issue and articulate the possible challenges that these diverse perspectives might bring to this competency.
ï‚· You should aim for 250 to 300 words of content in the NOTES section of your slides. You are not expected to read these word-for-word when you are presenting, but as support for what you are presenting and something for your instructor to refer back to when grading. This is also where I will see your citations.
ï‚· You are expected to present your topic to class. You will hand in your assignment to the D2L drop box and your instructor will post it so the class may view it.
ï‚· The application of the theory to the leadership issue using the guided questions below.
ï‚· How is this topic supported or not by other scholars or practitioners?
ï‚· Can you illustrate this with a real life leadership example?
ï‚· Explain how a leader might handle these specific aspects of development.
ï‚· Outline what particular leadership skills might be necessary for this and how to develop them
