Jarvis Nelson 

SWOT helps you determine where you are in your industry or market. SWOT focuses on strength and weakness in the internal environment as well as opportunities and threats in the external environment.  SWOT can be used as a Gap Analysis to 1) understand what their current state is, 2) define specifically what the future state of becoming a solution selling organization would require, 3) identify the Gaps, and 4) build an action plan to evolve from current to future state. It can be used to assess places, competitors, businesses and even to do self assessments. Clearly shows the difference between internal ( strength/weaknesses ) and external ( opportunities/threats ) factors to help decision making.

         According to Billie Nordmeyer (performance gap and solution strategy), performance gaps can be defined as “a disparity that is found when the current performance of an organization is different from the desired performance that is being projected in accordance with regulations, standards or benchmarks” (Billie, 2015). An organization’s performance is gauged or measured by it’s ability to accomplish it’s goals and objectives in an operationally and financially effective and efficient way (Chris, performance gap analysis, 2015). A SWOT analysis helps in creating a strategic planning process by analyzing and identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats involved in an organizational structure both from the internal and external factors (SWOT Analysis, 2017). In-order to close the performance gaps in an organization, It’s very important to consider using the SWOT Analysis model or strategy, which involves; identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in creating a solution for the organizational problems.
