This reflection essay should be in an informal writing style and will serve as a comparison and a reflexive exercise that you can look back on as you leave the course. Please cite any sources you use, including your textbook, in APA 7th edition format.

Also, this reflection essay will give me, as your instructor, a chance to know more about what you find important about the topic of sexual health.

Before completing the reflection essay, please review the course description from the syllabus (listed below), Chapters 1, 2, and 9 in your Crooks and Baur (2017) textbook, and the journal article “Five Strategies to Combat Unconscious Bias” by (Bucknor-Ferron and Zagaja 2021).

Course Description:

“Physical, emotional, social, and psychological dimensions of human sexuality; interpersonal relationships; contemporary attitudes, values, and behaviors; sexuality as a positive health entity.” 

In at least 500 words total, please answer the following questions:

1. Based on the course description, what do you expect to learn in this course, and what sexual health topics do you find particularly relevant or interesting?

2. Since I am the only one reading this essay, I want to give you a chance to speak your mind about any topicthat you found controversial in your Chapter 1, 2, and 9 readings. What did you find controversial and why?

3. If you are a health educator dealing with a controversial topic related to sex, what are some professional guidelines/tips that you will use to manage your own reactions and effectively do your job in a professional manner? For example, how would you acknowledge your own potential for unconscious bias and maintain a non-judgemental attitude when dealing with people who have different opinions, values, and beliefs than your own? Why could this be hard for you to do when handling a controversial subject such as sex? At the same time, why is being personally aware important when working with a diverse public? Use the journal article (Bucknor-Ferron and Zagaja 2021) for help, and please cite any sources that you use in APA 7th edition format.

4. What is a topic in Chapters 1, 2, or 9,  respectively, that you found really important to continue to address? Why was this topic so interesting and important to you?
